Cambridge Children's Books has a new book! Lovebirds is a book all about love and relationships and we are launching it on Kickstarter to raise funds to help finish production and to pay for printing costs. Please support us and order your copy of the book! It is written by Gregoire Hodder and illustrated by Jamie Sugg.
Set in the African savannas, Lovebirds looks at what life is like for a family of Fischer’s Lovebirds that are a species of parrot and is full of facts and information about these birds and natural habitat. Did you know that often after a long separation or stressful period of time, pairs of lovebirds feed each other to re-establish their bond? The natural world can show us a lot about life and in the life of the Lovebird we can learn a lot. This book follows Sam and Solomon hatching out into the world, falling in love, having children, and then growing old together.
The story is brought to life by bright, colourful illustrations that really bring the Lovebirds to life. The illustrator Jamie Sugg is a full-time artist based in Cambridgeshire and focuses on the natural world in his work.
Jamie writes “When Greg invited me to join him to create this book, I jumped at the chance to illustrate it. I loved the initial idea for the book, and as we worked together to develop the storyline the birds began to come alive in my mind - I could see how each illustration would help to share this beautiful story of companionship, love and friendship. The book also reminds us how important it is to live together well in community - we all have a part to play to ensure no one is left behind - to look out for one another, to care for one another.”
In order to make this book a reality we are going to be running a crowd funding campaign so that we can finish the production and also print the book.
